Course Outline

Overview

Security officers play a critical role in safeguarding premises and ensuring the safety of people. With increasing security risks and the need for heightened vigilance, security officers must be equipped with the proper skills and knowledge to conduct effective screening of persons and belongings.

Effective security screening helps to prevent prohibited items from entering protected areas and supports the overall security posture of the organisation. Well-trained security officers act as the first line of defence by detecting potential threats early and responding appropriately while maintaining professionalism and respect.

The Conducting Security Screening of Persons and Belongings (CSSPB) course focuses on equipping security officers with the practical skills and situational awareness required to perform screening duties in accordance with established procedures, legal requirements, and safety standards.


Course Aim

On successful completion of this course, participants will acquire the essential knowledge and application skills to conduct security screening of persons and belongings effectively and take appropriate actions when prohibited or suspicious items are detected.


Learning Objectives

To demonstrate mastery of the tasks in this course, participants must be able to do the following within the given time limit and with the materials, tools, and equipment supplied:

  • LO1: Prepare for security screening of persons and belongings in accordance with operational requirements

  • LO2: Conduct screening of persons and belongings using approved methods and equipment

  • LO3: Identify prohibited or suspicious items and respond appropriately according to established procedures


Target Audience

This course is designed primarily for security personnel performing the role of a licensed Security Officer, including those required to conduct screening of persons and belongings at access points, premises, or protected areas.

Class Size

The recommended class size for this WSQ Course is a maximum of 20 participants. The minimum class size is 6 participants.
