Course Outline
Overview
Security supervisors play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and managing security risks to ensure the safety of people, assets, and operations. Effective security risk analysis enables supervisors to anticipate threats, implement appropriate control measures, and respond decisively to potential security incidents.
With increasing security challenges in workplaces and public environments, security supervisors must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to systematically assess risks and address vulnerabilities. A structured approach to security risk management helps to minimise incidents, enhance preparedness, and support safe and secure operations.
The Assess and Address Security Risks (AASR) course focuses on equipping security supervisors with the essential competencies to conduct security risk assessments, evaluate potential threats, and implement effective risk mitigation measures in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Course Aim
On successful completion of this course, participants will acquire the essential knowledge and application skills to assess security risks and implement appropriate measures to prevent, reduce, or manage security threats effectively.
Learning Objectives
To demonstrate mastery of the tasks in this course, participants must be able to do the following within the given time limit and with the materials, tools, and equipment supplied:
LO1: Identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities within the operational environment
LO2: Assess security risks based on likelihood and impact in accordance with established risk assessment frameworks
LO3: Implement and monitor appropriate security control measures to address identified risks
Target Audience
This course is designed primarily for security supervisors, including senior security officers and team leaders, who are responsible for security planning, risk assessment, and the implementation of security measures at workplaces, protected areas, or public facilities.

Class Size
The recommended class size for this WSQ Course is a maximum of 20 participants. The minimum class size is 6 participants.

Assessment Methodology
All the knowledge and abilities in this course will be assessed. The summative assessment will be conducted by POLWEL Approved Assessment Organisation (AAO). Participants must complete all assessment activities on an individual basis.
